Maybe I'm not used to cushion compacts but with the pad, it feels like I have a lot of makeup on. I like sheer coverage and find it applies better with a beautyblender but it does make my skin look flawless.

This is a great product. Smells great, great and long lasting coverage. The only thing is the sponge gives out after a few use so have a spare
