Huxley
Oil Essence
& Sahara Mask Set
Hello
everyone! My name is Wen Qi from Malaysia; I am a skincare explorer. I like
trying out new skincare lines and to see how it feels on skin.
First
thing first, I would like to thank Style Korean for giving me this opportunity
to pamper my skin with Huxley’s Oil Essence & Sahara Mask Set; in exchange
for my honest review; BUT before that,
DID YOU KNOW?
Huxley
has been gaining vast attention and popularity as they protect skin from
suffering harmful environmental stress AND for their star ingredient *drum
rolls* certified organic Sahara Prickly Pear Cactus Seed Oil carefully sourced in Morocco. Here is why it
is loved by many:
·
It is ultra-moisturising by
retaining skin’s hydration levels;
·
Contains Linoleic Acid that has
anti-inflammatory properties and lightens the skin;
·
Has Vitamin E content is 150 percent
more than argon oil and 400 times higher than olive oil;
·
High in Vitamin K giving you brighter
and healthier skin; and
·
Non-comedogenic.
Now,
we get to enjoy all this goodness in Huxley’s products! how cool is that??
I
was very excited to try this skincare line for its glorious benefits (and their
minimalist & luxurious packaging – I am a sucker for packaging) BUT their
products contain alcohol and fragrance - may not be suitable for
sensitive skin.
Putting
that aside, the scent is DAMN NICE, SO LUXURIOUS! It has that flowery green top
note and fresh sea breeze with soft jasmine + white roses + lilies (got this
online cause i am no scent expert to tell its top / middle notes, what I am
trying to say is, if they were to have fragrances / scented candles, HUXLEY
TAKE MY MONEY)
For
those who do not know, their signature fragrance is in collaboration with LUZI,
a-90-year-old Swiss fragrance company - giving you that “sensational relaxing
experience”
This
set comes with 4 bottles of goodness and a box of Glow and Brightness Sheet
Masks (3 pieces):
My
Reviews
Disclaimer:
I have sensitive combination skin – oily t-zone and dry cheeks. what may work
for me may not work for you, vice versa
(1)
Oil Essence: Essence-like, Oil-like
Thoughts
It
has very unique texture, thicker than your usual essence. feels really good on
skin and melts seamlessly into skin. never felt anything like this and it is
not oily at all. It moisturises my skin really well (especially coming from an
oil-essence hybrid). It also gives you that minimal glow and velvety finish. Was
really excited for this since it is the most popular among all 4s, but i did
notice some redness around my cheeks and forehead after application, but no
further irritation or breakouts after that. In terms of hydration, it very
hydrating to skin but it is on the thicker side for me, did not need additional
moisturiser. would use it for PM skincare instead of AM (especially recently,
since Malaysia’s weather is SUPER HOT in the AM and raining cats and dogs in
the PM). Would recommend this for normal-dry skin instead.
(2) Essence: Grab Water
Thoughts
This baby here is so lightweight and
feels great on my skin. absorbs very well and has that soothing and cooling
feeling after application WHILE adding a boost of hydration to skin. This is
definitely great for the Malaysia hot and dry weather but this may not be as
moisturising as (1) Oil Essence; Essence-like, Oil-like which you would
need to top-up with moisturiser after usage. would recommend this for oily skin
instead.
(3) Oil: Light and More
Thoughts
This
amazes me the most! Despite it being an oil, it is indeed very lightweight. It
sinks into my skin well without any weird residues the next morning; and yes,
it is thick for my skin but the oiliness does not bring any discomfort nor
breakouts as it contains no alcohol; but no, would not use it for AM, only PM
for sure (great for some gua-sha self-love moments too).
Did
notice a slight glow the next day after usage. It is also recommended to use as
lip balm and hair oil. Definitely not lip balm for me due to its overwhelming
scent on the lip, but it works VERY WELL on my hair, probably the only thing
that can tame my frizzy hair for longer hours (I have to swear by it!!). I
remember the very first time trying it and being really greedy about it, had
excess product on my palms so >>> some love for my hair.
(4) Essence: Brightly Ever After
Thoughts
Lastly,
this essence works surprisingly good for me. It is very lightweight on skin
despite its milky texture and very comforting to use too. It is not as heavy as
(1) Oil Essence: Essence-like, Oil like and not as light as (2)
Essence: Grab Water; making it work well on my skin. Also love how it
protects the skin from radical attacks and UV damage (so it gives you that 2x
protection after sunscreen applications). Would not mind using it regularly,
both AM and PM. BUT i hate to say this, BUT I am never really a fan of
brightening products (for those who don’t know), I have always loved being
tanned, so this markets to have great brightening properties; and I can definitely
foresee how fair i will be if I were to use this consistently for a solid 3
months. But who knows, maybe one day I will hate being tanned and would stock
up on this? HAHA
Mask: Glow and Brightness
A
brightening sheet mask infused with cactus extracts in a milky essence. aims to
protect skin from harmful environmental factors, while brightens and evens out
skin tone. Low viscous formulation using PE-tech giving you soft, refreshing
and deeply moisturising to skin, even with high oil content. When both liquids
are mixed (oil + essence), it instantly emulsifies into a milky essence. SO
COOL! The sheet mask is made of microfiber that helps skin to absorb the
essence quickly and adheres perfectly on skin. The mask is an innovative
product and fun to use! It comes in a clear pouch with watery essence and oil
being separated; ensuring freshness upon usage.
Thoughts
The
mask is somewhat similar to (1) Oil-Essence: Essence-like, Oil-like; the
mask feels cooling on skin and they are VERY GENEROUS with the liquids. The
essence is quite thick for me, but i love how it felt on my skin; due to the
comfort and moisture it provides! Upon removing the mask, i can definitely
notice a brighter complexion but the brightening effect wears off after a
while.
This
mask is on the expensive side due to the complicated and labour-intensive
process of extracting the prickly pear seed oil (which can be found in all
Huxley’s products). One ton of fruit can only produce a litre of prickly pear
seed oil, thereby making it an expensive beauty oil in Huxley’s skincare line.
Would
I repurchase?
If
I were to choose, I would get (4) Essence: Brightly Ever After in full
size since I am 70% emptying it and maybe (3) Oil: Light and More since
it is a good oil not just for the face, but also the hair haha (rich in Prickly
Pear Seed Oil ok, i ain’t gonna let that go).
In
general, Huxley’s skincare lean towards the pricey side but I think it is worth
giving it a try due to it great benefits. So get yours today from StyleKorean
and let me know how does it feel on your skin! Till next tim
